Helen Butler

Helen Butler has worked for 27 years in Primary, Secondary and Special Schools. She was judged an "outstanding" teacher and SENCo by OFSTED. Helen is Kirklees Partnership Manager for the University of the First Age, a national educational charity. She managed the Kirklees Extended Learning Service and was a School Improvement Officer supporting and challenging both Secondary and Primary phase schools.

As Extended Schools Remodelling Advisor, Helen has represented Kirklees Local Authority at national and regional forums. Helen’s role has demanded multi-agency working, commissioning, and supporting partnerships. Her skills are in training, project and people management, strategic planning, curriculum design and joined up thinking!

Helen is an effective trainer who can bring any topic to life, bringing her clear thinking and good communication skills to make her training sessions well organised, interesting and engaging. Helen has established, facilitated and evaluated a range of school partnerships across Kirklees. She has led training sessions for Head Teachers, whole school staff, colleague networks, including teachers, support staff and school business managers. Recent workshops include Teacher’s Pay, Appraisal, Teaching Standards, Stepping into Leadership, Skills for Middle Leaders, Career Stage Expectations for Teachers & UPS.

Helen is currently Chair of Governors in a primary school enabling her to keep in touch with the daily challenges facing schools today. A recent OFSTED inspection praised her ‘strong’ leadership which contributed effectively to good school outcomes.

In addition, Helen is a Standing Committee member of the Wakefield Diocesan Board of Education.
