Helen Butler
Helen Butler has worked in and around Kirklees for 24 years in Primary, Secondary and Special Schools. She was judged an "outstanding" teacher and SENCo by OFSTED. Helen was formerly the Kirklees Partnership Manager for the University of the First Age, a national educational charity. She managed the Extended Learning Service and is currently School Improvement Officer for Extended Learning, helping schools develop their Extended Services, including Parenting provision and a Varied Menu of Activities supporting school improvement.
As Extended Schools Remodelling Advisor, Helen has represented the authority at national and regional forums. Helen’s role has demanded multi-agency working, commissioning, and supporting partnerships. She has been in charge of a large team and is responsible for the budget and project management of complex projects such as ‘The Extended Schools Disadvantage Subsidy’. Her skills are in project and people management, strategic planning, curriculum design and joined up thinking! She has a passion for the development of young people from four year olds to teenagers. She is a creative thinker and leader who values interpersonal relationships highly.
Helen has extensive experience of developing young people’s leadership skills. Her courses are engaging, fun and relevant. Her recent UFA Fellowship course was rated highly by participants, one of whom said "in 22 years of teaching this is the best course I have ever been on!"
Helen is currently Chair of Governors in a primary school enabling her to keep in touch with the daily challenges facing schools today.
